Sciton’s PROFILE™ Now Lets Physicians Build Their Own Cosmetic Laser System — A Revolutionary New Way to Market Lasers

Palo Alto, CA. — February 15, 2002 — Sciton’s PROFILE product lets Surgeons and Dermatologists build their own Cosmetic Laser System, one or more applications at a time. All other cosmetic laser manufacturers sell a separate laser system for each procedure. Now if a surgery center wants to get started treating leg and facial veins they will choose the PROFILE with a 1 Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser. If, six months later, the physicians decide to add the Sciton-developed MicroLaserPeel™ procedure, they will purchase the 1 Er:YAG 2940 nm laser–and simply add it to the same base system. The laser would be incorporated into the Profile unit. Four months later this same practice may decide they wish to add Full Skin Resurfacing capabilities, more aggressive MicroLaserPeels, as well as Basic Dermatology Applications, so a 2 Er:YAG 2940 nm laser would be added to the PROFILE base unit–again no need to pay for another box of duplicate auxiliary components such as power supplies, control panels, laser arms, etc. Finally, the practitioners may decide to add a 2 Nd:Yag 1064 nm laser because they want to treat larger leg and facial veins and provide Hair Removal. Sciton is also developing additional wavelength capabilities such as 1 Nd:YAG 1320 nm for non-ablative, non-invasive laser wrinkle treatment. That adds up to 4 lasers in one PROFILE console–all upgradeable to suit the needs of the practice.

Daniel K. Negus, Ph.D., President of Sciton, Inc., explains, "e; Not only is our laser product spanning the widest wavelength and application range, a technological tour-de-force, but we are proud to be offering the most versatile and economic solution available to meet our customer’s needs. The new PROFILE allows physicians and surgeons to make smaller incremental investments in equipment, building their practice one laser at a time. Once they grow confident with one procedure or application, they are ready to embrace the next.”

On March 2, 2001, Sciton, Inc. announced, at the 59th annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, that they had produced a laser called PROFILE that combined CONTOUR, a 45-watt Dual Mode Erbium laser with IMAGE an 80-watt Long-pulse Nd:YAG laser.
